And Razorlight join in the fun...

THE DUKE SPIRIT kicked off the NME SHOCKWAVES AWARDS shows last night (February 4) with a storming headline set at LONDON KOKO.

The band, watched by Razorlight bassist Carl Dalemo, made up for the cancellation of Do Me Bad Things through illness with a set largely featuring tracks from their eagerly awaited debut album.

The biggest cheers came for the new single ‘Lion Rip’ and ‘Drinking You In’ from the band’s 2003 mini-album ‘Roll, Spirit, Roll’.

Metro Riots had kicked the evening off with an energetic set of swamp rock, with ‘RIP Mother’ and ‘Lured Into Roulette’ going down best with the enthusiastic crowd.

Dogs went down a storm, EMO-style epic ballad ‘End Of An Era’ being the highlight. During the set closer ‘London Bridge’ singer Johnny Cooke joined the crowd in the moshpit.
