Ono was famously married to Lennon and collaborated with Wayne Coyne and his band as part of Amazon Prime’s ‘All Is Bright’ Christmas album. The 43-track collection also includes ‘Ho Ho Ho’ by Liz Phair plus contributions from Beth Orton, Lucinda Williams and the Rosebuds among others.
The Flaming Lips previously collaborated with Ono in 2007 on another Christmas song, ‘Atlas Eets Christmas’. The US band have increasingly become a collaborative project in recent years, most recently working with artists including MGMT, Miley Cyrus and Foxygen on a ‘Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band’ covers album.
J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. also features on ‘With A Little Help From My Fwends’, The Flaming Lips remake of The Beatles’ album
‘With A Little Help From My Fwends’ is the latest record in The Flaming Lips’ project of covering classic albums in full, having previously covered The Stone Roses’ debut album as well as King Crimson’s ‘In The Court Of The Crimson King’.
Cyrus recently said that she has been writing songs for the follow-up to her ‘Bangerz’ album with Wayne Coyne, praising his ability to “change keys on a whim”.
