The Flaming Lips reveal new ‘Sgt Pepper’s…’ covers album details in psychedelic video

Miley Cyrus, Foxygen and MGMT all feature on 'With A Little Help From My Fwends'

The Flaming Lips have revealed new details on their upcoming remake of The Beatles’ album ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’.

In a psychedelic video released via the group’s Pledge Music page, frontman Wayne Coyne announced that fans who pre-order the album through the website will receive a variety of exclusive memorabilia, which includes signed CDs and vinyl, silkscreen posters, t-shirts and a ‘Making Of’ documentary.

According to Coyne, the documentary features the “making of this record, some of us being in the studio, and some of us contemplating and considering and thinking and imagining the impact that the Beatles and their music and sometimes the ideas of covering someone else’s music and discovering new things about their music and about yourself and about your art.”

In addition, the band posted a trippy new drawing of Coyne by the album’s cover artist Oliver Hibert on their Twitter page.

Among the artists to feature on ‘With A Little Help From My Fwends’ – which is released on October 28 – will include Dr Dog, MGMT, Foxygen, Moby and Miley Cyrus. In July, Coyne paid tribute to the Cyrus’s late dog Floyd by joining the pop star in getting matching tattoos that feature an image of the dearly departed pet.
