It's the shortlist for the shortlist...

Flaming Lips, Hives, Doves and BJORK are amongst the nominees for this year’s SHORTLIST MUSIC PRIZE, the American award based on the ‘MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE’.

As previously reported, members of The Strokes, Beck and Mos Def are amongst a panel who judge their favourite albums of the year, based on artistic merit rather than sales.

[/a] were the winners of the inaugural Shortlist Music Prize last year (November 19) at the Knitting Factory nightclub in Los Angeles, for their record ‘Agaetis Byrjun’.

This year, the ceremony will take place at the same venue on October 29. The shortlist has been announced, and includes [a]’ ‘Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots’ and [a][/a]’ ‘The Last Broadcast’
