The American group want different celebrities to provide guest vocals...
THE FLAMING LIPS are planning to release a Christmas record, with different “celebrities” providing guest vocals on individual tracks.
In a statement posted on the band’s official website, [url=]www.flaminglips.com, the band reveal that vocalist Wayne Coyne intends to write an instrumental album with the rest of the band, and let other “celebrities” guest on the record, providing stories or vocals.
At present, nobody has been officially confirmed to sing on the record, the band adding: “There have been all sorts of suggested names flying around from the outside world, but they’re generally way off the mark… it’s all still in the sorting out stage right now, so you’ll just have to wait and see! Rest assured, it’s going to be very interesting…”
The Flaming Lips headline the New Bands Tent at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, over the weekend of 23-25 June at Worthy Farm, Pilton. The band have revealed that they wanted to play the New Bands Tent because they need a covered area to get the most out of their live projections.
