The Futureheads have taken hitchhiking to a new level.
Ahead of their appearance at T In The Park (July 9), the band managed to cadge a lift to the festival off Dave Grohl in the Foo Fighters’ private jet.
“Basically when he came to Sunderland for the Big Day Out which we played too, he bought our album,” explained frontman Barry Hyde.
He added: “So we got chatting to him at Quart and as we were playing the same festival the day after, they just offered us a lift. It’s a full sized jet with their logo on the side, like that Led Zeppelin starship.”

“I’ve stopped taking too many clothes with me, I’m trying to travel lightly, that’s my new challenge,” said Hyde, although not all the band are following his example. “Jaff (bassist) has started taking two suitcases! The less I carry the more he brings – he’s even started taking his cricket bat on tour!”
