The rapper held onto 'The R.E.D. Album' to go against Jay-Z, Kanye and Lil Wayne
The Game has admitted that he delayed the release of his new album to cause maximum disruption to his hip-hop rivals.
He told Billboard.com:
I been working on [the album] for a long time but I kept delaying it because I wanted to drop right in the middle of ‘Watch The Throne’ and ‘Tha Carter IV’. That’s my own ingenious plan.
The new record features collaborations with Lil Wayne himself, plus Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Drake and Nelly Furtado. Interscope marketing director Jason Sangerman described the album as a “thank you” to the rapper’s fanbase, adding: “‘The R.E.D. Album’ has been in the works for a long time and Game’s fanbase has remained loyal, so we want to make sure they get what they deserve. Game’s fans are loyal to him because he is loyal to his fans.”
