Take a look at The Ghost Inside drummer’s new drum set-up following leg amputation

Andrew Tkaczyk had his leg amputated after he was badly injured in a crash which involved the band's tour bus

The Ghost Inside’s drummer Andrew Tkaczyk has uploaded new footage of himself playing drums nearly three years after he had to have his leg amputated following a bus crash.

Tkaczyk and his bandmates were involved in a fatal road accident in Texas in November 2015. Tkaczyk’s injuries were so severe that he had to have his right leg amputated following the crash.

Tkaczyk has been steadfast in his determination to return to drumming since losing his leg, with the musician uploading footage of himself back in March 2016 playing drums for the first time since the crash.

The drummer took to Instagram last night (August 28) to give fans an update on his current drumming ability, remarking that “today is honestly the first time since our accident almost 3 years ago that I feel close to the level I was playing at when I had two legs”. His post included a video of him playing on a specially-made kit, which you can see below.

In addition to losing his right leg, Tkaczyk also suffered rib and hip fractures, spinal damage and a minor head injury – as well as damage to his hands and shoulder – in the crash.

In a blog post earlier this year, The Ghost Inside confirmed that there is still a future for the band following the crash.

“We still aren’t sure exactly what it looks like,” the post read. “It might be one show, it might be a few shows. It could be a new song or a whole new record. Our journey into that future is just beginning, and we will bring everyone that is interested along with us.”
