Hives have given fans a taster of their new material at an awards ceremony in Sweden.

The band played ’Walk Idiot Walk’ at a radio awards bash in Gothenburg (January 23).

’Walk Idiot Walk’ is the band’s first new music since 2000, when their album ’Veni Vidi Vicious’ was initially released.

“This feels as if it could be song of the year,” singer Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist told Swedish paper Aftonbladet, “It feels like we’ve been in some sort of a stalemate for a while but now we’ve come back. It really feels great.”

“It doesn’t say too much or too little about our new album,” guitarist Nicholaus Arson added, “You could say it is a bit wilder, and perhaps has a more monotone movement than the old songs, and so the new songs are a little longer too.”
