The Jesus And Mary Chain‘s back catalogue is to be released on vinyl in a comprehensive, 11-disc boxset in December.
Though the band’s albums have been remastered and re-released in the past, with 1985 debut ‘Psychocandy’ being the most recent in a Record Store Day release earlier this year (2013), the boxset will represent the first time the whole collection has been available together in one package. Released to celebrate 30 years since the Scottish band formed, ‘The Complete Vinyl Collection’ will be available on December 2 through Demon Music Group.
The release will include all of the band’s six studio albums, starting with 1985’s ‘Psychocandy’ through to 1998’s ‘Munki’. Two additional discs will feature all of the Scottish band’s BBC sessions, remastered from the original tapes. 2003′s ‘Live in Concert’ will also be released on vinyl for the first time, featuring live recordings from 1992-1995 alongside two discs featuring rarities and B-sides selected by fans. The vinyl will be accompanied by a 32-page hardback book. Scroll down to see a trailer for the release now.
In 2012 The Jesus And Mary Chain reformed for a US tour, playing a string of shows in March including South By Southwest festival. The band were joined onstage during the tour by Mad Men actress Jessica Paré, who plays Megan Draper in the 1960s-set ad exec drama. Paré provided backing vocals on ‘Just Like Honey’ and ‘Sometimes Always’ at shows in Buffalo (August 2) and Toronto (August 3).
