The Jesus And Mary Chain plan new album

Band confirm reunion is permanent

The Jesus And Mary Chain have revealed that their reunion will result in the band’s first album in nine years.

Brothers Jim and William Reid reunited in April to play the Coachella Festival in California, and will play several more dates throughout the year. Joining them in the band are ex-Ride drummer Loz Co lbert and Phil King, former bassist with Lush.

The set has consisted of old classics, but also included one new tune, provisionally called ‘All Things Must Pass’.

Now the Reid brothers, speaking in this month’s issue of Uncut, have confirmed the band will make their first LP since 1998’s ‘Munki’.

Jim said: “The reunion is not necessarily about any nostalgia trip. There will be a new record, otherwise there wouldn’t be any point to reforming.”

When asked if they reformed for love, art or money, Jim added: “Probably all three and a few more things beside.”

The band play shows at:

London Royal Festival Hall (June 22)

Lisbon Super Bock Super Rock (July 4)

Madrid Summercase Festival (13)

Barcelona Summercase Festival (14)

Hildesheim M’era Luna Festival (August 12)
