Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney admits to being a fan of The Killers

The controversial politician is also keen on The Beach Boys

Controversial US Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has revealed that he is a fan of The Killers.

Speaking to Parade, Romney also expressed a fondness for The Beach Boys, as well as for stadium country stars like Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney and Toby Keith. “[Of] today’s rock stars, The Killers are one group I enjoy,” said Romney.

The politician named the above artists when he was asked what acts he’d like to see perform at the White House if he was successful in his bid to become president.

Romney himself however, hasn’t been popular in the music world of late. Alt rockers Silversun Pickups recently issued a cease-and-desist order against him after taking issue with Romney using their track ‘Panic Switch’ as part of his campaign against incumbent Democratic president Barack Obama.

“We don’t like people going behind our backs, using our music without asking, and we don’t like the Romney campaign,” singer and guitarist Brian Aubert said in a statement. “We’re nice, approachable people. We won’t bite. Unless you’re Mitt Romney!”

The Romney campaign took another hit earlier this week, when Twisted Sister‘s Dee Snider slammed Paul Ryan, the man recently chosen by Romney as his running mate. During a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Tuesday (August 21), Ryan opted to play the hair metallers’ 1984 hit single ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’, something Snider and his bandmates have not taken kindly to.

In a statement issued about Ryan’s use of the track, the band’s frontman said: “I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan’s use of my band Twisted Sister’s song ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ in any capacity. There is almost nothing he stands for that I agree with except the use of the (home exercise regime) P90X.”
