Band have released Christmas songs every year since 2006
The Killers are set to release this year’s Christmas single, thought to be called ‘Dirt Sledding’.
As LA Weekly reports, the band’s tour manager Ryan Pardey recently described the track’s accompanying video: “A deranged Santa walks up to the camera in the middle of the desert, pulls a tomahawk out of his bag and lights it on fire. The crazed man in red throws the ax at his target, a stuffed teddy bear with a picture of Killers frontman Brandon Flowers taped to its head. It’s a bull’s-eye.”
Posting on Twitter, The Killers have also hinted that Jaws actor Richard Dreyfuss may make a cameo in the clip.
The video has been previewed via social media, see below.
Stereogum reports that the song is likely to be premiered on Jimmy Kimmel next Tuesday (December 1).
The Killers have been releasing Christmas songs every year since 2006.
Brandon Flowers, meanwhile, has discussed the progress of The Killers’ next album, describing the band as being in the early stages of writing songs for the LP.
The band’s fourth album ‘Battle Born’ was released in 2012, with Flowers releasing his solo album ‘The Desired Effect’ in May of this year.
Speaking to NME, the frontman said: “We’re writing – we’re in the early stages”, adding that “in a perfect world” fans will be able to hear new music “at the end of 2016 maybe”.
“If The Killers want to take a year or two off then there’s no reason for me not to make a solo record but if the fires are burning in the band then there will be a Killers record,” Flowers continued.
