Killers recruit Elton John for Christmas single

Band sprinkle Vegas glamour for Christmas

The Killers recruited Elton John for their annual Christmas single after keeping him company during his Las Vegas residency.

The band, natives of the Nevada city, boast John and Pet Shop BoysNeil Tennant on their third festive track ‘Joseph, Better You Than Me’.

Speaking to NME.COM, The Killers‘ singer Brandon Flowers explained they got the Rocket Man to contribute to the track while he was in the middle of a residency at a Las Vegas casino.

“He’s been doing this show called the Red Piano in Las Vegas for a while now, and so every now and then we’ll go see the show and we’ll go have dinner,” he said. “We’re big admirers of him and his voice and his gift for writing amazing songs so it’s been cool to be around him. We were writing this Christmas song and we asked him if he wanted to chip in. He wrote the chorus, so it’s a collaboration in every sense.”

Tennant also contributed some words, and along with John sings on the track, which Flowers described as a “strawberry sucker”.
