The Killers to release Lou Reed duet tomorrow

'Tranquilize' will be available to download on Friday (Oct 12)

The Killers are to release ’Tranquilize’, their duet with Lou Reed, tomorrow (October 12).

The song will be available to download from iTunes.

‘Tranquilize’ is taken from ’Sawdust’, The Killers‘ forthcoming album of b-sides and rarities, which will be released on November 12.

Speaking of their sessions with the former Velvet Underground legend frontman, The Killers’ singer Brandon Flowers told NME.COM: “We were thrilled with being able to work with Lou Reed. The song was calling for a duet and his voice was just right. The sentiment of the song is very him.”

Flowers said the song was a “rollercoaster”.

“There’s a desperation to it,” he explained. “It’s one of our more depressing songs, but there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.”

The song was produced by ’Sam’s Town’ producers Flood and Alan Moulder.

The Killers are also set to release a Christmas single, ’Don’t Shoot Me Santa’, on December 1, with proceeds going to the RED Campaign.

Last year’s ’A Great Big Sled’, their first Christmas single, raised over £50,000 for the charity.

The band have confirmed the artwork for the ‘Sawdust’ album, which can be seen on the right of this page.
