The Killers hire legendary director

Next video from ‘Sam’s Town’ gets gothic

The Killers have worked with legendary movie director Tim Burton on the video for a forthcoming single.

The band teamed up with the man behind the likes of ’Edward Scissorhands’ and ‘Ed Wood’ on ’Bones’, the second single which will be lifted from forthcoming album ’Sam’s Town’.

And Burton has brought his signature gothic style to the video.

Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci said: “It’s Tim Burton. It’s going to be great. There are some skeletons, some darkness and some romance. What more could you want?”

Bassist Mark Stoemer added that only half the work was done so far: “We’ve shot all our parts and now the video is being worked on. It’s going to have computer graphics and models … we’re not really sure how it’s going to turn out. Usually we go over the treatment with a fine toothcomb and have a lot of influence, but this time we just let Tim do his thing.”

Burton shot the footage of the band in August and is currently in the post-production stage. The director and some animators are creating a whole town and cast of characters.

Vannucci told MTV News: “A lot of the models and sets are based on historic Las Vegas — on things that aren’t there anymore, like the Glass Pool Inn, this really cool place that was torn down a few years ago that was down at the south end of the Strip.

“But, like Mark said, we don’t really know 100 per cent what it’s going to be like. We put our faith in Tim.”

A release date for the single is as yet to be confirmed. The first singe from the album, ‘When You Were Young’, is out on September 18. The album follows on October 2.
