The performances make up part of a short film about Cash's new posthumous release

In the film, Flowers says that his father introduced him to the music of Johnny Cash. “He was also one the great storytellers,” says Flowers of Cash. “That’s something again that I gravitate towards.” Flowers then performs a version of Cash’s ‘I Came To Believe’, with accompaniment from Dawes, the original of which features on ‘Out Among the Stars’. The video was shot in the desert in California.
“I’ve always loved the sense of humour between June and Johnny Cash. Those duets are just so funny. You can kind of like, hear them winking at each other,” says Father John Misty, before performing ‘Baby Ride Easy’, also from the new Cash album. The film finishes with Local Natives playing the title track from ‘Out Among the Stars’. The video was directed by Directed by Arturo Perez Jr. ‘Out Among the Stars’ was released earlier this week.
