The Kills’ Jamie Hince: ‘I had to get into a gig under the name ‘Gay Vegan’ – video

Duo joke about guestlist pseudonyms at Glastonbury
The Kills‘ guitarist Jamie Hince has revealed that he once had to get into a gig under the name Gay Vegan.

Speaking to NME backstage at Glastonbury in a video which you can see at the top of your screen, Hince was responding to a question about the funniest name the band had ever put on their guestlist. He admitted that he’d once had to get into another band’s show under the name Gay Vegan.

Hince said: “I went to a show once and it was my friend’s band and they said to me, ‘Oh, sorry mate, we were dicking around and you’re on the list as Gay Vegan or Billy Gay Vegan. So I went and I was, like, to the guy on the door Gay Vegan?’ And he said no, so I had to go again Billy Gay Vegan?”

Alison Mosshart also revealed that she once crammed five people into a single tour bus bunk bed, just to annoy Jack White while on tour with The Dead Weather.

The Kills released their fourth album ‘Blood Pressures’ earlier this year.
