Former Kinks bassist Pete Quaife dies aged 66

He passed away yesterday (June 24)

Former Kinks bassist Pete Quaife has died aged 66, it has been confirmed.

As BBC News reports, the cause of death is yet to be announced, but the musician had been undergoing kidney dialysis for over a decade.

A co-founder of the legendary group, Quaife played on the band’s earlier hits including ‘You Really Got Me’, ‘All Day And All Of The Night‘ and ‘Dedicated Follower Of Fashion’.

Leaving the group in 1969 after five years, Quaife went on to form another band called Mapleoak, before quitting the music industry to become a graphic designer.

Despite ongoing rumours of The Kinks reforming, the bassist last played with the band at a one-off show in Canada in 1981.
