The Kinks to reunite?

Original members are reportedly keen on a 2008 tour

The Kinks are reportedly set to reunite for a highly anticipated reunion tour this year.

Lead singer and guitarist Ray Davies has been hinting at a reunion for some time, and the Daily Mail is reporting that the original line-up intend to reform for a 2008 tour.

Ray Davies‘ brother and guitarist Dave Davies suffered a stroke in 2004 and bassist Pete Quaife has kidney troubles, but Ray said that they are both keen to reform.

“I spoke to Quaife about a month ago and he dearly wants to make another record with me,” said Davies. “I think Dave’s getting better and Mick’s still playing. It would be great to get back together just to see what musical ideas we had and what would happen.”

Davies added that as a solo artist he has missed being part of a band. He said, “You miss the interactive stuff. You get it to a degree with other musicians but probably not with the same passion.”

The reunion tour would likely coincide with the release of a Kinks box set titled ‘Retrospective’.
