The Kooks get ready to break US

As ‘Inside In/ Inside Out’ gets US release

The Kooks are hoping to break the US following the release of debut album ’Inside In/ Inside Out’ there this week (October 3).

As previously reported by NME.COM, the band sold out their October 25 Club NME date at LA’s Spaceland and their October 28 date at Brooklyn’s North Six.

However, it has been announced that more tickets for their Spaceland date will be available on the door.

About their whirlwind year Luke Pritchard said: “Everything has happened so suddenly, so it’s been a bit of a shock.

“And to us it’s kind of funny, because we wanted to have a steady buildup, but obviously that wasn’t meant to be. And now, with the States coming up, we’re going to have to see what happens there.

“But we’re just going to deal with it, keep making great records. Honestly though, the whole thing has been a total head fuck.”

Drummer Paul Garred told MTV that coming to terms with UK success has been difficult. “Everything sort of rolled off like that, and we’ve been totally unconscious.

“We didn’t realize what was going on. We were in this whirlwind, and it hasn’t really stopped. It’s been amazing, playing these massive gigs, and the crowd sing back every word. That’s a feeling all of its own.”

While Pritchard said that he tries to ignore media intrusion into his life.

“I don’t pay much attention to the media. I mean, I think if you do, you can just go insane. The whole thing is really just nonexistent bullshit, anyway.”

The band will play :

New York The Bowery Ballroom (October 23)

Los Angles Check Yo’ Ponytail @ Safari Sam’s (24)

Los Angeles Club NME @ Spaceland (25)

San Francisco Popscene @ 330 Ritch (26)

Brooklyn North Six (28)
