The Last Shadow Puppets announce two new European festival appearances

Alex Turner and Miles Kane will play Sweden's Way Out West and Finland's Flow Festival

The Last Shadow Puppets, the duo comprising of Arctic Monkeys‘ Alex Turner and Miles Kane, have confirmed two new European festival dates scheduled for this summer.

The pair recently announced details of their upcoming second album ‘Everything You’ve Come To Expect’, as well as UK tour dates and an appearance at Poland’s Open’er festival.

Now the band have been confirmed for both Way Out West festival in Sweden and Finland’s Flow Festival.

Way Out West will run in Gothenburg from August 11-13, with PJ Harvey, Sia, Daughter, Jamie xx, Chvrches, M83 and Julia Holter also among the line-up.

Flow Festival takes place in Helsinki from August 12-14. New Order, Four Tet, Sia and Stormzy join The Last Shadow Puppets on the bill.

The Last Shadow Puppets play the following European festivals:

Open’er Festival, Gdynia (June 29 – July 2)
Way Out West, Gothenburg (August 11-13)
Flow Festival, Helsinki (August 12-14)

The Last Shadow Puppets are gearing up to release new album ‘Everything You’ve Come To Expect’ on April 1.

In an interview with NME last week, Turner explained the long wait between albums, saying that the band intended to release a trilogy and “wanted to write the second and third parts before we released the second”. Asked if fans would have to wait another eight years for the third installment, Alex added: “Well, I don’t know about that. There are lots of other things we have to factor in.”

Speaking about the new music, Turner said of what to expect: “I think the last record ended up being just one thing. We talked about Scott Walker a lot and our record became perceived as a homage to that sound. This one, in my head, doesn’t wear its influences on its sleeve as much as the first one did. We were definitely listening to a bit of Isaac Hayes this time, but it was less of a big deal.”

Kane continued: “At that time [of the first album], all that stuff was new to us. We were discovering it for the first time. This time, it was just songs that we were buzzing off that we were inspired by.”
