Libertines photographer Roger Sargent awarded as amateur shots go on display
Carl Barat and Theo Hutchcraft from Hurts were amongst the guests at the launch of the Nikon NME Music Photography exhibition in London earlier this week (November 7).
Roger Sargent, who photographed The Libertines throughout their career, was handed the Outstanding Contribution prize at the event, which is being held at the Getty Gallery in London from November 7 – December 1.
The exhibition features the best images from this year’s music photography competition, which was open for entry during this summer’s festival season to both amateurs and professionals. NME and Nikon teamed up in a bid to discover hot new talent and celebrate the best in music photography. The best images, from winners and runners up across the six categories, feature in the exhibition. Categories include Live, Portrait, Festivals, Reportage and Under 21s, for amateur photographers, as well as a category for professional photographers.
Jeremy Gilbert, Group Marketing Manager at Nikon UK, said: “Nikon is committed to raising the profile of photography and is incredibly excited to be working with NME and Getty to exhibit these images to the public which we hope will inspire and encourage photographers to capture their passion for music.”
