Carl Barat: ‘The Libertines will probably play more gigs’

Frontman gives reunion update

Carl Barat has given another update on how The Libertines‘ reunion could become an ongoing affair – saying he thinks the band will play “a few more” gigs.

Barat, Pete Doherty and co reunited for the Reading And Leeds Festivals earlier this year, with the singer/guitarist saying more shows could be on the cards. However, he said he didn’t want to get too firmly embedded in the reformation cycle.

“I think we’re probably going to play a few more gigs,” he told German music blog “Playing the same sort of thing, but I wouldn’t keep doing that. Every band is doing a reunion and we would never get together and do an ‘Up The Bracket’ tour for three years around the world.”

He added: “Now we’ve got the option to start a new chapter. So that’s a nice option to have. I don’t know if and when we’re going take it up.”

Barat has been concentrating on his solo career since the summer shows, releasing his debut solo album last month.
