The Libertines ponder writing new material after reuniting

Band give press conference in London

The Libertines have spoken about the possibility of writing new material following the news that they are reuniting to play the Reading And Leeds Festivals this August.

Bandmembers Pete Doherty, Carl Barat and John Hassall played an impromptu gig yesterday (March 31) at the Boogaloo bar in north London after giving a press conference. During the conference they said that new material was a distinct possibility.

“Well, we’re going to write,” Barat said when asked about new Libertines material.

However, Doherty added: “We haven’t got plans to do [play new material at the festivals], no. It’s going to be hard enough to work out some of the riffs from the old days, to be honest!”

Barat then said: “We might do man, we’ll see what crops up.” Doherty then chipped in by saying, “Yeah, who knows really? Isn’t that what people want?”
