Babyshambles' performance doesn't quite go according to plan...

BABYSHAMBLES caused chaos at the ‘TOP OF THE POPS’ studio on Friday after PETE DOHERTY allegedly assaulted a member of the audience.

According to a band source, Doherty and his band were in the London studio on Friday (December 10) when he became involved in an argument with a member of the audience.

According to a studio source, Doherty moved off the stage and into the crowd where he attempted wrestle the person to the ground.

The band’s rehearsal for the show was used in the broadcast later in the evening instead of a full performance.

A BBC spokesperson told NME.COM there had been an “incident” at the recording of the show. However, she denied that anyone in the studio had been assaulted, and said that nobody had been hurt. Requests from NME.COM to see footage of the rehearsal were declined.

A UK spokesperson for the singer had no comment.

Babyshambles are currently on tour and the London Forum tonight (December 13). Other shows on the tour include Glasgow Barrowlands (14), Blackpool Empress Ballroom(15) and the Sheffield Leadmill (16).
