The absent Pete Doherty claims bandmate Carl Barat doesn't want him in the group...

Libertines’ future appears in doubt after PETE DOHERTY claimed bandmate CARL BARAT doesn’t want him in the band.

The group have been touring Europe without Pete this month after he failed to show up for gigs. As a result they’ve been playing with their guitar tech, Nick in his place.

Now, according to a posting on the website [url=]thelibertines.org, Pete and Carl have spoken, but Pete is unlikely to join the group for their forthcoming UK dates.

“Having spoken to Carlos it is true – he does not want to play with me, in my current ‘condition’,” he wrote. “I’m not sure what he means but he’s deadly serious and it’s settled.

“The lights are all on, it is clear. There is no use moaning about it, it’s the way it is. I’m getting on with things without any of them, though god knows I love him. It’s not happening anymore and it’s the way it is. Fuck ’em.”

The band’s UK tour is due to start Friday (June 20) in Manchester. NME.COM understands the gig will take place, even if Pete isn’t with the band.

The tour calls at: Manchester Academy (June 20)

Glasgow Barrowlands (22)

Leeds Cockpit (24)

London Forum (25)

Glastonbury Festival Other Stage (28)
