The Libertines, Glastonbury and Wolf Alice amongst winners at UK Festival Awards

The ceremony took place at London's Roundhouse earlier this evening (December 1)

The Libertines, Glastonbury and Wolf Alice were amongst the winners at the UK Festival Awards, which took place earlier this evening (December 1) in London.

The Libertines’ set at at British Summer Time in London’s Hyde Park was named Headline Performance Of The Year, while Glastonbury took the honour of Best Major Festival and Wolf Alice scored Best Breakthrough Artist. These awards were decided by a public vote and also saw V Festival win the Best Toilets award, while The Secret Festival was named Best New Festival and Live At Leeds named Best Metropolitan Festival.

Calvin Harris’ ‘Summer’ won the award for Anthem Of The Summer and Creamfields for Best Dance Event. Another set of awards was decided upon by industry experts, with Line-Up Of The Year given to Festival Number 6 and Rob Da Bank of Bestival given the Outstanding Contribution To Festivals Award. Steve Jenner, the Festival Awards Director, said of the awards: “Another outstanding summer has made this year’s voting and judging a hugely exciting but also challenging task. Not that this put off the festival going public, we’ve seen a 25 per cent rise in votes with over 720,000 cast this year.”
