The Libertines are curating a festival this summer

Band will headline Wheels & Fins Festival in Kent

It has been announced that The Libertines will headline Kent’s Wheels & Fins Festival this summer, also curating its line-up for a day.

Wheels & Fins Festival runs from September 7-9 at Joss Bay Beach in Broadstairs, with The Libertines headlining the Main Stage during the Sunday leg (September 9). Tickets can be found here.

According to a press release, the band will be “curating a fantabulous cornucopia of musical delights”, although no acts have yet been announced.

In a tweet, the band described themselves as “dead excited” and said that they would be “inviting a load of incredible artists to come and play throughout the day”.

The Libertines are also teaming up with local charities Aspirations Centre and Pie Factory Music for their performance.

As well as Wheels & Fins, this summer will also see The Libertines make UK festival appearances at Y Not, Kendall Calling and Victorious Festival.

Wheels & Fins Festival is just up the road from The Libertines’ new hotel/studio The Albion Rooms in Margate.

Drummer Gary Powell recently spoke to NME about the band’s summer plans, The Albion Rooms and what to expect from their next album.

Of progress on their new LP, Powell said: “Pete and Carl have got together and they’ve been writing together. But John is in Denmark and I’ve been here writing and trying to run a record label. With us, it’s about the quality. It should be pretty easy for us to have a few drinkies, put it together and Bob’s your uncle.”
