The Maccabees preview new album at Shockwaves NME Awards show

The capacity crowd lap up the new tunes

The Maccabees played to a heaving crowd of loyal fans at their Shockwaves NME Awards Show in London tonight (February 27).

Taking to the stage just before 10pm at KOKO, singer Orlando Weeks clad in sequins and a concealing hoodie, gave a brief but rousing introduction to his band, “Hello, we’re The Maccabees man!”

The Maccabees then played a host of highlights from their forthcoming debut album, due out in May.

Notable songs included ‘Latchmere’, ‘First Love’, new single ‘About Your Dress’ and ‘Precious Times’, which got the loudest cheers of the evening.

As Weeks leapt up on the drumkit, beer in hand, the band capped off their set with two encores, which included debut single ‘X Ray’.

The evening was kick started by a host of support bands, including sets by Tokyo Police Club and Good Books.
