Following on from Rumble In The Jumble’s most successful annual celebrity charity jumble sale to date this May, (raising over £33,000 for women in Myanmar via Oxfam) The Music Circle have acquired pieces from some of the world’s most well-known figures.
Items on sale include The Maccabees drummer Sam Doyle’s drumskins signed by the whole band; The Maccabees’ Felix White’s leather jacket; The Vaccines’ leather jacket by Replay and Johnny Vaughn’s Chelsea Football Club x Armani suit.
Other items include an ARTPOP painting on canvas used by Lady Gaga in her 2013 Roundhouse performance; Elton John’s Versace sunglasses (signed by Elton himself) and Ricky Wilson’s vintage John Lewis waistcoat.
The auction went live last Monday (July 11) with almost £3,000 already raised. Funds will be helping Oxfam who intend to make long-lasting changes to gender equality in Myanmar.
This includes increasing women’s political representation and advising on policies which will influence the whole society to include and welcome women in positions of authority. Writing in a statement, The Music Circle explain: “In raising awareness that it is right and appropriate for women to share decision-making roles with men, changes will become widespread and sustainable.”
