The Maccabees, Foals and Rat Boy join the bill for the NME Awards with Austin, Texas

They'll perform alongside the likes of Godlike Genius recipients Coldplay on the line-up

NME is excited to announce that The MaccabeesFoals and Rat Boy will perform at this year’s NME Awards with Austin, Texas.

Rat Boy, currently appearing on the NME Awards Tour with Austin, Texas, said of his involvement: “I’m real excited to play at the NME Awards, I wanna share a table with Kendrick Lamar – Thank u everyone for the support this year, I never would of dreamed of being a part of one of these awards.”

“The Maccabees and Foals always put on an incredible show and it’s great for us to champion Rat Boy – who has been a firm favourite on the NME Awards Tour with Austin, Texas this year.” 

Joining Foals, The Maccabees and Rat Boy at the NME Awards with Austin, Texas will be Inspiration Award winner Yoko Ono, Innovation Award winners Bring Me The Horizon and newly crowned Godlike Genius recipients Coldplay, who will close the ceremony with what promises to be an epic performance of career-spanning hits.

The nominations for the NME Awards 2016 with Austin, Texas were revealed in December, following tens of thousands of votes from NME readers in the hopes of seeing their favourites crowned NME Award winners.

The shortlist saw The Libertines and Wolf Alice lead the pack with six nominations apiece, including the categories of ‘Best British Band’, ‘Best Live Band’ supported by Red Stripe and ‘Best Track’. Hot on both bands’ heels were Foals, who received four nominations.

Radio 1’s Huw Stephens will take to the stage to host the ceremony for the third year running, which takes place at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on February 17.
