The Mighty Boosh reunite to play Tenacious D’s US festival

Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt will appear alongside Adam Sandler, Zach Galiafinakis and Sarah Silverman at US event

The Mighty Boosh are set to perform at Tenacious D‘s Festival Supreme this October – their first live show since 2009.

The duo, Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt, join a bumper bill of comedians at the event in Santa Monica, California. Other big names confirmed to appear include Adam Sandler, Zach Galiafinakis, Sarah Silverman, Jack Black and Kyle Gass.

The Mighty Boosh have been absent from the public eye since their ‘Future Sailors’ tour ended in January 2009. Speaking to Rolling Stone about the duo, Tenacious D’s Jack Black said: “I don’t even know if they’ve ever performed in the United States, but that’s our favourite television show to come out of the UK since Monty Python’s Flying Circus.”

The one-day comedy festival will take place on October 19 and will see acts performing across four different stages. Another notable set will come from Breaking Bad‘s Bob Odenkirk and Arrested Development‘s David Cross, who have teamed up for a joint performance under the name ‘The Mr Show Experience’.

Discussing the thought process behind the festival, Black has said: “We always want to do the biggest possible show when we’re doing our concerts and tours, and we also did this thing every once in a while where whenever there would be a big tragedy, we would gather up all the comedians and musicians that we knew and do a little ‘Tenacious D Presents’. It was just always so damn fun, and we thought we should do it on a bigger scale and make it like a festival rather than just a concert.”

Since putting The Mighty Boosh on hiatus, Noel Fielding has starred in a number of TV series including his own show Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy. Julian Barratt, meanwhile, has largely stayed out of the public eye.
