Noel Fielding has confirmed that his new show Luxury Comedy will begin on January 26 on E4.
The Mighty Boosh star revealed the transmission date on his Twitter account, adding that “the mainstream are gonna shit it” when the programme goes out.
The sketch show, which is half filmed and half animated, will see Kasabian‘s Serge Pizzorno provide the music.
Fielding has said that the programme will be in the “tradition of Spike Milligan and Kenny Everett” but will also be completely modern. He added:
Television needs a madman – I just want to blow people’s minds.
Last year, Fielding’s Mighty Boosh cohort Julian Barrett confirmed the collective had finished their long-mooted debut album and were still planning to make a film based on the cult TV show.
However, he also suggested fans could be in for a long wait to get a taste of either, as the album would be tied into the release of the film – which hadn’t been written yet.
“We haven’t put it out yet but we’ve done the recording. It sounds good. We recorded it at Electric Lady Studios – they did quite a good deal,” Barrett commented.
