The Mighty Boosh star Julian Barrett has confirmed that collective have finished their long-mooted debut album.
The actor – who fronts the troupe with Noel Fielding – told BBC 6 Music that they laid down the tracks at Electric Lady Studios in New York after demoing the material in the UK.
Barrett said:
We haven’t put it out yet but we’ve done the recording. It sounds good. We recorded it at Electric Lady Studios – they did quite a good deal.
He explained the group intend to release the LP as a tie-in with their forthcoming film, which has also been planned for a number of years.
However, fans look set for a long wait to hear or see the fruits of either project, as Barrett hinted that their movie hasn’t even been written yet, commenting:
We’re just waiting for a time to put it [the album] out really. I don’t know, when we get round to writing the next film or something we’ll tie it in and release it together.
The Mighty Boosh have previously said that their album would comprise “psychedelic prog-rock” tracks.
Meanwhile, during a talk at an Apple Store in London last year the troupe spoke about being influenced by Pink Floyd and Frank Zappa. Fielding also revealed that the gang had written “about half of three films”.
