The Orb to mark ‘Tubular Bells’ anniversary with special event

'The Bell Is Back' takes place on June 6

The Orb are set to head up a unique new celebration of Mike Oldfield‘s seminal 1973 ‘Tubular Bells’ album.

Marking 35 years since the orchestral-prog classic was released, special event ‘The Bell Is Back’ is taking place at the British Music Experience exhibit at London‘s 02 Arena on June 6.

Ambient act The Orb will team up with The Hand Bell Ringers Of Great Britain for the special day of demonstrations, workshops and performances.

The event will give visitors the chance to try their hand at bell-ringing, while watching the troupe perform selections of their repertoire and extracts from ‘Tubular Bells’.

The evening will see The Orb perform an ‘Orbular Bells’ DJ set of ambient house and visuals.

Paul Lilley, curator of The British Music Experience, commented: “‘Tubular Bells’ is a much loved classic British album and I can’t think of a more appropriate place to celebrate it than at The British Music Experience, fast becoming the home of music history in the UK. Interactivity is key to the exhibition, and I know children and adults alike will be clamouring to have a go themselves.”

‘The Bell Is Back’ runs from 2-6pm (BST), and is included in the £15 entry fee for the British Music Experience.
