David Letterman demands an encore from The Orwells on ‘Late Show’ – watch

The Chicago punks wow the chat show host for the second time

US television host David Letterman demanded an encore from The Orwells for the second time after they appeared on his Late Show again last night (June 10).

When the band performed on the programme in January, the television host demanded that they played some more. However, guitarist Matt O’Keefe had broken the strings on his guitar, so they couldn’t continue.

Last night though, the band appeared on the show to play their track ‘Righteous One’. Just like last time, Letterman and leader of the house band Paul Shaffer called for one more song. The band obliged, playing ‘Who Needs You’, during which they handed the microphone to Shaffer so he could improvise lines like “You better comb your hair!”. Watch footage of it below.

Earlier this month, The Orwells compared Arctic Monkeys to The Backstreet Boys after criticising their former tour buddies for their live shows being “synchronised” and the same every night.

Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner responded to the criticism, saying: “They should have been out trying to get laid instead of watching us every night.”

The Orwells supported the Sheffield band on their US arena tour earlier this year. They released their new album ‘Disgraceland’ on June 2.
