PRODIGY have recruited JANE’S ADDICTION legend PERRY FARRELL to guest on their long-awaited new record.
Group mainman Liam Howlett has been working on the follow-up to 1997’s massively acclaimed ‘The Fat Of The Land’ for much of 2001.
Now, speaking in the current issue of Q magazine, Howlett said Farrell will feature on one track on the record, which is taking a more “electronic” direction than he anticipated.
He commented: “I thought it was gonna be really rocky but it’s turning out quite electronic. I don’t know what it’s going to be like yet but I know it’s not going to be all fake blood and stupid hairdos. I’m doing one track with Perry Farrell and Keith (Flint)’s playing guitar on the album too.”
However, Howlett said that despite the fact they are both dating an Appleton sister, Liam Gallagher will not feature on the record.
He continued: “Everybody keeps saying, ‘Go on, get Liam on your LP’, but we’ve never been in the studio together. We never talk about work, not me nor Liam or the girls.”
The album – provisionally titled ‘Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned’, is likely to surface in 2002.
