Radiohead(pictured) head the British chances for this year’s MTV Video Awards, with four nominations.
The band – said to be recording the follow up to last year’s widely-acclaimed ‘OK Computer’ at the moment – have nominations in the Best Group, Best Alternative, Best Direction and Best Cinematography categories, all for the ‘Karma Police video.
However, the flagship Best Video category sees The Verve’s ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ video nominated. The Wigan band are competing for Best Alternative and Best Group Video aswell.
The Prodigy have three nominations for ‘Smack My Bitch Up’, which is vying for the Breakthrough Video, Best Editing, and Best Direction categories. Death In Vegas score one nomination for Best Art Direction, while the Aphex Twin is up for the Best Special Effects Award for the legendary ‘Come To Daddy’ clip, and Roni Size/Reprazent are also included in the Best Breakthrough Video for ‘Brown Paper Bag’s promo.
Madonna leads the nominations with a total of nine, though Garbage are close behind with eight, all for ‘Push It’. Will Smith receives six nominations, and Aerosmith and Puff Daddy have four.
The award ceremony takes place in Los Angeles on September 10.
