The Rascals play first ever London gig

Trio get a handy from some Mersyside legends at debut show

The Rascals played their first London gig last night (December 3).

The Wirral three-piece performed a to a sold out audience at the Water Rats in Kings Cross, their first show in the capital.

The band showcased tracks from their ‘Out Of Dreams’ EP, which was released on the same day, including the title track ’Lying Under The Second Seal’ and ’Ratcatcher’.

The band who are currently working on their debut album with Blur and Elbow producer Ben Hillier, also previewed several songs they have been recording including ’Bond Girl’ and ’Feakbeat Phantom’, which despite being one of its first live airings, got an enthusiastic response from the busy crowd.

The trio also paid tribute to Mersyside legends Echo And The Bunnymen, covering their track ‘All That Jazz’ during the gig.

The band added the song to their set after performing it for a forthcoming movie set in Mersyside.

The band’s next London dates could not be more different than their intimate first, as The Rascals are set to return to the capital at the weekend (December 8-9) when they support Arctic Monkeys at Alexandra Palace.
