Billie Joe Armstrong joins The Replacements at Coachella

The Green Day frontman stepped in for an injured Paul Westerberg

Bille Joe Armstrong joined The Replacements for their performance at the opening day of Coachella’s second weekend, reports Consequence Of Sound.

The Green Day frontman appeared with the Minneapolis band as their own frontman Paul Westerberg played most of the set sitting on a sofa, having suffered a back injury. Armstrong, whose own music was heavily influenced by The Replacements, quipped at one point during the set: “Dreams really do come true!”

The group wore matching tan suits, except Westerberg who opted for a khaki jacket, for the performance and played some of their classic tracks like ‘Alex Chilton’, ‘Can’t Hardly Wait’ and ‘IOU’. You can watch fan footage of the latter at the bottom of the page.
