Mick Jagger has revealed that receiving an apology from Keith Richards for his infamous penis slur was a “prerequisite” to The Rolling Stones going on tour again.
In his 2010 autobiography Life, Richards wrote of his bandmate: “Marianne Faithfull had no fun with his tiny todger. I know he’s got an enormous pair of balls, but it doesn’t quite fill the gap.”
Although Richards landed the blow three years ago now, the size of the frontman’s member remains a talking point. Tory Education Secretary Michael Gove has something of a “fixation” with Jagger’s manhood, the politician’s wife has recently revealed.
However, Richards has now apologised for causing any trouser-related embarrassment to his bandmate. “Well, I think it was a good thing he got together with me and said that,” Jagger told Rolling Stone. “I don’t really want to talk about it apart from that, but I think it’s good that he said it, and yes, it was a prerequisite, really.”
However, in a separate interview with the magazine, Richards hinted that the apology may not have been entirely sincere. He said: “We resolved it, in our own way, you know. I said I regret if I caused you any, you know, inconvenience or pain, or something. I’d say anything to get the band together, you know? I’d lie to my mother.”
The Rolling Stones are currently on their ’50 & Counting Tour’ in the US. The band return to the UK for their Glastonbury headline set on June 29 and a pair of massive gigs in London’s Hyde Park on July 6 and 13.
