Apparently Mick Jagger's father helped popularise the sport in the UK...

Rolling Stones are backing a promotional campaign for the NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION in the USA.

Footage from the veteran rockers’ current North American tour is to be mixed with highlights from basketball games in a 30-second TV ad, which will run throughout the basketball season, starting today (October 29).

It will show the band performing new single ’Don’t Stop’, and will feature NBA stars including Jason Kidd and Shaquille O’Neal.

According to news agency Reuters, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger was a keen basketball player in his youth, and his father helped popularise the sport in the UK. It is not thought any of the other band members are particularly enthusiastic basketball players.
