The gig - as well as behind the scenes activity - will be streamed on the Periscope app
The Rolling Stones will play a surprise show tonight in Los Angeles (May 20).
The gig, which will take place at an as-yet-unrevealed ‘club’ in the city, will see the band playing every song from their 1971 album ‘Sticky Fingers’.
Tickets go on sale at 12pm PST (8pm GMT) at rollingstones.com and the gig will be streamed on the Periscope app, with a press release stating: “The Stones will also Periscope behind-the-scenes moments ahead of tonight’s show and fans from all around the world can tune into their live broadcasts later this evening”. No phones or cameras are permitted at the gig.
The Stones recently revealed they would be using Twitter as their main direct-to-fan tool ahead next month’s re-release of their ‘Sticky Fingers’ LP. Speaking last month, frontman Mick Jagger has said that he is keen to make a new record, either with the band or as a solo album instead.
The Rolling Stones will head on a North American tour during the summer. Their upcoming dates will be their first since saxophone player Bobby Keys died in December aged 70. Keys was a notable player on ‘Sticky Fingers’.
