Rolling Stones guitarist RON WOOD was rescued by photographers from a boat blaze off the coast of Brazil...

Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood (pictured second left) cheated death off the coast of Brazil on Thursday (April 9) when a pleasure boat he was travelling on burst into flames. The guitarist was only saved by the quick action of paparazzi who were tailing the boat.

Wood later thanked photographers for their actions, which also saved ten other passengers. He said: “Thank God for the paparazzi. Sometimes they save lives.”

The boat caught fire after an engine explosion, the cause of which is still unknown. It took firefighters two hours to extinguish the blaze.

Wood was travelling on the boat near the islands of Angra dos Reis, south of Rio de Janeiro, when the fire happened. The Stones are currently touring South America, and will be playing two sell-out Brazilian concerts in Rio on Saturday and Sao Paulo on Sunday.
