Watch The Roots’ Questlove impressively identify Prince songs from one-second clips

The drummer showed off his skills as a "human Shazam" during an interview on last night's edition of 'The Tonight Show'

The Roots’ drummer Questlove demonstrated his impressive ability to name a Prince song from hearing just a one-second snippet on US TV last night (April 24) – watch him show off the skill below.

Questlove appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night to promote his new book Creative Quest, with the drummer making a rare foray across the studio of the long-running US chat show – The Roots, of course, currently serve as Fallon’s house band.

Dubbed “the human Shazam” by Fallon ahead of the segment, the host then challenged Questlove to take part in a Prince-themed ‘One-Second Song Quiz’.

After correctly guessing a raft of Prince songs from one-second snippets (including ‘Raspberry Beret’ and ‘Get Off’), Questlove then continued to demonstrate his encyclopedic knowledge of the late artist’s work by carrying on his hot streak with half-a-second and quarter-second snippets. Questlove, meanwhile, will rejoin The Roots for their forthcoming show at London’s Somerset House later this summer.

The Philadelphia band were recently confirmed as a star booking for the iconic venue’s Summer Series of gigs, which kicks off on July 5 with a show from Metronomy.

The Roots will play a rare UK gig with their forthcoming show in the capital, with the band due to perform at Somerset House on July 12.
