The Rumble Strips‘ forthcoming new single recounts a mugging that went wrong, the band have revealed.
‘Not The Only Person’ is released on June 29, and will be the first single to be taken from the band’s Mark Ronson-produced second album ‘Welcome To The Walk Alone’.
The band have revealed that the song’s lyrics were inspired by an incident last year when singer Charlie Waller and his wife were assailed by muggers, only for Mrs Waller to chase off the startled attackers.
Bizarrely, the song becomes an apology of sorts to the attackers for messing with his wife, featuring the lyric, “You’re not the only person to get it wrong, it’s alright – come back tomorrow night and you can take anything you want.”
The Rumble Strips play an album launch show at the London Wilton Hall on July 15.
