The Shins put on free show in Los Angeles

Venue overflows with fans

The Shins performed a free show at the Amoeba Music store in Los Angeles last night (January 26).

Although not widely publicised, the event drew hundreds of fans, many of whom were turned away after the store reached capacity.

This was one of the Portland-based band’s first shows in support of their third album, ‘Wincing The Night Away’, released earlier this week. It was their only appearance scheduled in California until an upcoming benefit concert in April.

The Shins were forced to delay while fire marshals attempted to control the crowd that overflowed onto Sunset Boulevard. Many people were left out in the cold in a queue that wrapped around the block.

The quartet breezed through several songs from their new album as well as some early material during their set, which lasted approximately 45 minutes.

As previously announced, The Shins will officially kick off their US tour on February 8 in Minneapolis.
