The Shins preview new music from the studio

Band released last album in 2012

The Shins have previewed what appears to be new music from the band.

The US group released their last record ‘Port of Morrow’ in 2012, now posting a clip of a new track to their official Instagram account. Scroll below to hear the snippet.

It’s the first piece of new music since 2014 when the band contributed ‘So Now What’ to the soundtrack of Zach Braff film Wish I Was Here. The Shins were famously featured in Braff’s 2004 directorial debut Garden State with Natalie Portman’s character Sam telling Braff’s Andrew that they would “change your life”.

The Shins have also posted a photo from the studio. See the picture and video below:

The band’s next album will be their fifth since forming in 1996. 2012’s ‘Port of Morrow’ was their first release in five years.

Since their last album, the band’s James Mercer released a new album, ‘After The Disco’, with his side-project Broken Bells, which sees him teaming up with Danger Mouse.

Mercer’s pre-Shins band Flake Music also reissued their ‘When You Land Here, It’s Time to Return’ album in 2004.
