The guitarist made changes to part of the exhibit during a talk at the British Library
The Slits‘ Viv Albertine defaced a punk exhibition for erasing women’s involvement in the movement.
Albertine was taking part in an event celebrating punk at the British Library on Friday night (July 15) when she made the changes to a panel in the venue’s exhibit, Punk 1967-78.
Albertine crossed out the names of the bands mentioned and wrote the names of her former band, X-Ray Spex and Siouxsie & The Banshees in their place. “(What about the women!! Viv Albertine),” she added.
Further down on the panel, she crossed out all further mentions of the Sex Pistols and wrote in The Slits instead.
